E-Bike by Height

Which cargo e-bike can carry a large dog?

None of the makers states a dog weight limit on the product pages we read on Nov 4, 2026. What you can check is the rear rack limit, because that is the tighter limit if the dog rides on the rack: 143 lb on the Aventon Abound SR and 176 lb on the Velotric GoMad, against total limits of 440 lb and 500 lb.

The "total left" columns are subtraction on the makers' total load limits. They do not say a dog can ride safely at that weight, and they do not apply to a dog on a rack with a lower limit.

Why the rack limit matters more

A dog sitting on the rear rack counts against the rack limit, not just the total. On the Abound SR that is 143 lb even though the bike's total limit is 440 lb; on the GoMad it is 176 lb against 500 lb. For the Abound LR, the HovCart and the Triker we do not have a confirmed rack figure (Aventon's page lists one for the LR, and Velotric's sources disagree for the Triker), so ask the maker in writing.

What the makers say about pets

Check the pet carrier or trailer maker's own rules too, and confirm with the bike maker that the carrier fits the bike. Whether a large dog can ride safely depends on the dog, the carrier and the bike, which these numbers do not capture.
